Should We Reuse Plastic Containers?

I've been reusing plastic containers - cottage cheese, yogourt, etc. to store food for fridge or freezer - for years, but now I'm wondering how safe they are in light of more information on the different types of plastic that are used.

This article was in the Toronto Star on the weekend and gives some useful information about the different types of plastic and how safe they are. A good rule of thumb, if you can't be bothered reading the whole article, is not to mix plastic and heat. Don't put plastic containers in the dishwasher if there is a heated drying cycle and don't put them in the microwave to warm up food. Also, let food cool before storing in a plastic container.

The Bather

German boaters got a surprise this week with the debut of "Die Badende" or "The Bather," a giant, styrofoam-and-steel sculpture showing a woman's head and knees if she were soaking in a bathtub.
Created by artist Oliver Voss, the 13-foot-high, 98-foot-long sculpture will be on display in Hamburg's Binnenalster Lake for the next 10 days.

A (Slow-) Moving Story

Associated Press has covered the story of an 'Andre', an amazing sea turtle that was rescued in dire condition just over a year ago. He has made an amazing recovery and was recently released back to the sea in Florida with about 200 poeple cheering him on. Read the story and watch a video here.
