Leg(o)ality

For all you Lego fans out there, here's some inspiration: a large detailed model of the Supreme Court of Canada.

This beauty, created by Andrew Frape, 27 years old, of Saskatchewan, was intended as a combination Christmas and birthday gift for his wife, Bryn, who had asked him to build her a Lego model for her office to make it more homey.

In using more than $1500 worth of custom-ordered Lego pieces, 5000 pieces in all, Frape created a model that exceeded all expectation. It measures 1.2 metres by 60 centimeters, is 1 metre high and took more than a year to plan and build in the family living room.

  1. I wonder what the reaction of the wife was. I hope she doesn't stare at this monstrosity in her office and be reminded of her husband's year long distraction/obsession and $1,500 down the drain when she would rather have had a $1,450 beach getaway from the Saskatchewan winter and a $50 Lego model from the local toy store! Beautiful, yes, but perhaps a little much!!

  2. Good point. I was wondering if anyone would pick up on the nuisance of having this thing (and all the bits and pieces) in the living room for over a year. You put it really well!! On the other hand it kept him busy and happy and out of trouble for more than a year and that’s worth something.
