Anne Eunson, Knitter

(Kate Davies) 

Anne Eunson is a Scottish textile artist in the Shetland Islands. Normally, she works on knitting lace. This time she has knit a fence! Using fisherman's heavy twine, normally used for nets, she used a traditional Shetland lace pattern to link vertical posts together for a fence around the garden at the Shetland Textile Museum in Lerwick.

The knitting needles were formed from adapted curtain rods to create this thing of beauty. So ingenious and fun! See more here.

Iris Scott

Iris Scott is an American fingerpaint artist. Yes! Fingerpainting! Though when you look at her wonderful creations, you'd have a hard time believing that she used only her fingers. In fact, Iris Scott is the first professional fingerpaint artist and she's very busy - in addition to her own work, she accepts commissions and has written a how-to book and has created an instructional video. Her original works are for sale, as are prints and her book and video.

Prints can be purchased in multiple sizes. For example, this print of Wapiti, the smallest size, 16" x 40" would be US$47.40 and the largest, 46" x 35" is US$264. (stretched canvas on frames, ready-to-hang) 

It's very interesting to follow Iris Scott on Instagram (no account needed) and videos of her painting can be found on YouTube. I really think her paintings have a "Wow" factor!

The Cleveland Way

Besides the Two Moors Way, another possible 2021 walking destination high on my radar is the Cleveland Way, with the advantage that since it's a UK National Trail, it's well-signposted and well-serviced. There's a mix of stunning coastal scenery from Filey, on the North Sea, south of Scarborough north to Saltburn-by- the-Sea where the path heads inland, curving around the north and west edges of the North York Moors to Helmsley, in all, 109 miles/175 km.

The Two Moors Way

It only took a 6-day walk in 2003 to get me hooked on long-distance walking, multi-day treks with a country inn or a b and b for overnight, luggage transfer and occasional pick-ups/drop-offs by b and b hosts. It's a fantastic way to see a country, meet like-minded people and have a memorable adventure holiday.

Next.... 

I'm contemplating the Two Moors Way in Devon, coast to coast, south to north, Plymouth to Lynmouth, approximately 160km, crossing both Dartmoor and Exmoor. Maybe in 2021.
